NDN MOVIES

How are yall feeling about Crooked Arrows?  I just found out about it today, and I’m having mixed feelings.  I think it’s cool that it’s highlighting the history and origin of Lacrosse within the Native community, but the trailer seems like it’s gonna perpetuate the usual stereotypes (for example, they mentioned the words “spirit” and “spiritual” several times within a 2.5 minute time-span, and some of the actors sound laconic and simple) .  Also, Joe Logan, the main character, is played by a WHITE fashion model/actor - a role that could have been given to an ACTUAL native actor.

I know I haven’t seen it yet, so I could be wrong about everything and feel differently after I see it (if I see it).  Just wondering what other natives’ reactions are.
