mThe Fair Witness: Why I support cultural appropriation

Actually it does affect me. The appropriation issue is only aimed at white people. Anyone is allowed to wear a Scottish kilt, everyone is welcome to wear green and get drunk on St. Patrick’s Day, white culture is open to everyone. But as soon as a 12 year old white girl wears a bindi or a white guy gets a logogram tattoo, people cry racism and appropriation. Sorry but no one owns culture.

I believe in freedom, which means The freedom to live your life as you see fit as long as you do not directly harm or infringe upon the rights of others.

No, white culture was forced on us, that’s why it can’t be appropriated. To appropriate means to steal and alter without consent. You don’t understand what appropriation is, so I will tell you one last time :

If it doesn’t hurt, dehumanize, exotify, exploit, degrade, and literally contribute to the oppression and/or misrespesentation of a culture, then it is not appropriation.
